THE XAVERIAN MOVEMENT AND ITS' AIMS

It was founded in September 1952, in Bukavu, Zaire, by Fr. Georges Defour, a Missionary of Africa (White Father) and Mr. Augustine Zagabe. Fr. Defour liked very much the Scouts Movement, but for him it was not enough. He wanted something specifically more Christian. therefore forming xaverians movement The Movement read quickly in Zaire, and later on in other countries like Rwanda, Tanganyika, Cameroon, Malawi, Angola, Nigeria. It was started in Uganda in the year 1960. The Movement has been blessed by Pope Pius XII and Pope Paul VI. By following the great law of the Gospel of LOVE and the good African traditions, the aim of the movement is to help children and adults to become good citizens and real Christians and apostles.

MISSION

To form young people in behaviors, character, integrity and impart in them life skills in order for them to become mature responsible adults who are spiritually, morally, socially, economically and politically progressive.
